For You

Welcome to Week #94 in The Shabby Tea Room. This week Melissa is our shabby host and she asks that we create a card or project using the inspiration photo's 4 colors. (Blue, Pink (or Red), Yellow and Green)

"A Colorful and Shabby New Year"

I decided to use the Crafty Serets precious-ever-more purse template.

Both the template (014 Purse Template) and the patterned paper (004 Flower) are from the Creating with Vintage Illustrations CD2 by Crafty Secrets.
I printed the patterned paper onto cream CS first. I then printed the purse onto both cream CS and again onto the patterned paper. I trimmed the patterned paper pieces for the purse and adhered them onto the purse. I colored the handle with copics. The tag is from Papertrey Ink Tiny Tags. This purse is the perfect size to hold a gift card.

Crafty Secrets is our wonderful sponsor this week and the winner will receive the Creating With Vintage Patterns CD #2 and a gift certificate.
These CD's contain over 200 illustrations and include die cuts, templates and papers. The creative possiblities really are endless!

Check out the Shabby Girls' blogs for even more inspiration.

I hope you have time to play along with this week's fun challenge.
Enjoy the rest of 2011 and have a very Happy New Year!

Here is the fun inspiration photo:

What a fun little wrapping station!

For my card I used the Merry Circle Sentiments - Merry Christmas from Bagaboo Digi Stamps. I pieced the image using Silver Shimmer, Red, and Kraft CS from Papertrey Ink. I added some machine feather stitching along the newsprint patterned paper and pinked the bottom edge.

This week's winner will receive 7 digi images from Bugaboo Stamps!

A Very Crate Christmas Event

There's a fun challenge going on over at the Crate Paper blog. The challenge is to get crafty using papers and embellishments from the Peppermint Collection.

I made a holiday planner using papers from the Peppermint Collection 6 x 6 pad. I cut a tag from the Peppermint Collection accent Cuts using the Papertrey Ink jar die. The cover was made by piecing several of the papers together and then machine stitching in areas.
The title was made with an image from Papertrey Ink's Take Note stamp set.

Both sides of the inside of the planner have a skinny lined notebook. The tops are adorned with stickers from Alpha Labels. I punched out a circle from Candy Cane for the center of the button.
Thanks so much for visiting:)

"Colors of Nature"

For my card I used I used an image from Sheet #166 from
Whoopsi Daisy Designs, our wonderful sponsor for

Oh does she ever have some aDORable images!

The cardstock and leaves paper is from Papertrey Ink. I colored the sweet little gal and added some glitter to a few areas. I love her mushroom stool.

I can't wait to see what you create using this beautiful inspiration photo.

Week #88 in The Shabby Tea Room

Welcome to another fun week at The Shabby Tea Room. This week Melissa is our host and she asks us to create a card or project with a holiday theme and to use the colors from this beautiul inspiration photo.

"A Shabby Pastel Christmas"

I love everything about this photo: the colors, the delicious cupcakes and cookies, and the beautiful flowers.

Our wonderful sponsor this week is Designs by AR.
She has so many wonderful templates and other great products.
The winner of this week's challenge will win 2 templates!

For my project I used the Carry All template. I just love this template. I have a large collection of templates and I have to say that they aren't all user friendly. This template from Designs by AR was super easy to assemble and everything lined up like it should! It went together effortlessly. I used a Scalloped Oval nestability die to cut the 'handle' openings.
I stamped the cream CS with the Background Basics Tin Types stamp set from Papertrey Ink. The snowflakes are Papertrey Ink dies covered with glitter. The sentiment is Hero Arts.
This little tote measures 4 1/2 " tall, 4" wide and 1 1/8" deep. It's the perfect size for a pair of socks or other small gift item. I'll be making lots of these for Christmas! And if you give a gift to someone early in the season they will be able to re-use the pretty package.

"Shabby Thanksgiving" in The Shabby Tea Room

Welcome to week #87 in The Shabby Tea Room. This week Char is our host and she has provided us with this sweet image.

Char asks that we create a card or project using the colors brown, yellow, blue and neutrals.

For my card I used papers from Pink Paislee and Melissa Frances. The image border is from this week's sponsor, Robyn's Fetish Digital Stamps and is called Ornate Frame. This week's lucky winner will receive 5 images From Robyn's store. They are very fun to work with. And since you are printing them yourself you can print them in any size to fit your project.

Be sure to stop in at the other Shabby Girls' blogs to see the beautiful creations they have waiting for you!

I hope you have a chance to create something for this week's Shabby challenge. Have a great week!

p.s. - here's a postage tip. I bought some stamps last week and learned that the post office now sells 20-cent stamps. Most of the cards I mail have a bump and require an extra twenty cents to mail. So I always put two 10 cent stamps on my envelopes. Now I can add one 20-cent stamp. Just passing this on in case you also like to mail cards with pretty embellishments.

 And here is my card:

For my card I used the Papertrey Ink stamp set Fall Elegence and added glitter to the pumpkins. The CS is Smokey Shadow. That luscious seam binding you see is from our sponsor this week, Simple Treasures. I used Ambrosia Cantalope and Cake Crumbs Shabby Seam Bindings on this card. This week's lucky winner will get 15 yards of seam binding!

Be sure to check out the Simple Treasures store to see all of the beautiful colors this shabby seam binding comes in. I'm partial to the Mint Green.

miss you

This card is for Flourishes' Timeless Tuesday challenge. Maki is the host this time and she challenges us to use either leaf or tree images, and not to use flowers as the focal point.

I used one of my all time favorite stamp sets, Swing Set, and colored the tree with four different colors of shimmery paint, trying to make it look like the 'leaves' are changing colors. It is pure coincidence that the coloring matches the dyed silk ribbon - love it when that happens!

This close up is to show the shimmer.

My friend Rosemary is the current guest designer on the Flourishes blog. It's been very fun to see her beautiful cards here this past month.
Have a great weekend.

Hello Friend

I'm so happy to be able to play along in the Textured to Perfection challenge going on in The Moxie Fab World. Here are Cath's instructions:

Create a paper crafted project (card, gift bag, tag, layout, home decor item, mini-book cover, etc.) that incorporates texture in an innovative way.

I've been wanting to make some pink burlap leaves and this challenge was the perfect reason to get it done. I mixed some pink acrylic paint with water in a 16 oz plastic cup, rolled up the cream burlap and soaked it for an hour or so. Then I laid it out to dry overnight. I adhered it to some Sweet Blush CS {Papertrey Ink} then cut the leaves with PTI's Falling Leaves dies. I then stamped the veins with brown ink. The card base was embossed with PTI's Damask impression plate. I added sweet blush ink to the raised areas. The woodgrain piece was stamped with Hero Arts' woodgrain stamp and all edges were inked with distress ink.
The sentiment and tag are PTI's Tiny Tags - I love this set and use it a lot! I added a little of the pink burlap behind the tiny heart opening.

It was so refreshing to get some 'pink' out after making so many fall-colored cards. Thanks so much for your visit today.
